CARMENCO

Saturday 26th October, 7.30pm

Deeside Community Centre Theatre, Aboyne.

“CarmenCo” brings their sell-out show, “A Pocket Opera” to Aboyne on 26th October.

With “A Pocket Opera” occupying the borders between a concert and a play, this will be a fun-filled evening of fantasy, comedy, drama and tremendous music arranged by the musicians for guitars and flute / voice  from Bizet’s Carmen and Spanish and Spanish-inspired music by Boccherini, Falla, Garci-Lorca, Rodrigo, Granados, Ravel and Albeniz.

The performance roughly follows the story of Bizet’s opera “Carmen”, but it is told from Carmen’s point of view. Dare you consult the cards with her? What does she think of the men in her story? Did she foresee her gruesome ending? And does she like the opera Bizet wrote about her?

The trio – Emily Andrew, Francisco Correa and David Massey – act, interact with the audience and even dance, while playing, and will have the audience in turn laughing out loud, and listening with absolute silence to the immersive and evocative music.

THE COUNTERFEIT SIXTIES

Saturday 23rd November, 7.30pm

Deeside Community Centre Theatre, Aboyne.

The Counterfeit Sixties was formed by four experienced musicians with the purpose of performing some of the greatest songs from the most creative period in pop music.  Each member of the group has a wealth of experience from playing in various combos, and working with some of the legends of the time.

As the band themselves grew up in the sixties, they are fully aware of the memories that can be evoked by a 60’s show.  A full multimedia experience, utilising live action footage of many familiar sights and sounds from the period: from specially selected events, famous people, adverts, and – of course – the original artists themselves, the two-hour performance covers many aspects of the era.

With over thirty bands & singers covered, it is undoubtedly the most comprehensive 60’s show around today.

Keeping the 60’s 100% live!

All being well, this will be a licenced event.
